Small Group Classes vs. One-on-One Tutoring:
Is there really a difference?
We carefully considered the name Think Tank Learning Alliance. As professional educators, we recognize the power of a “think tank” which is also know as collaborative learning. Our unique, challenging curriculum has been specifically designed to support and enrich student learning in a collaborative environment. In a Think Tank Learning Alliance class, students feel empowered by participating in a small group setting as they quickly see the impact their ideas and contributions lend to the other students as learners. Two heads are better than one! Piggybacking off of other’s ideas and strengths naturally provides support for individual areas of weakness. Additionally, small group classes provide your child with opportunities to practice team-building skills, gain leadership skills, and simulate real-life collaborative situations: skills crucial to success in the 21st Century! This type of interaction simply cannot occur with just the teacher working with the student.
This does not mean that one-on-one tutoring isn’t necessary or helpful. Some students simply need more assistance with specific topics to be successful, and their unique needs can be address effectively in a private tutoring setting. The teachers at Think Tank Learning Alliance can meet the needs of students by providing private tutoring. Private tutoring information can be found by navigating to our Private Tutoring page. However, a small group structure allows for ample opportunity for a teacher to diagnose each individual student’s areas of weakness and then provide one-on-one attention. Pairing small group classes with private tutoring is often a very effective avenue for children needing extra support, as well as for those families seeking enrichment in a specific subject.
The teachers at Think Tank Learning Alliance are truly your child’s ally!! We will work with you to find the best solutions to support your child in math, reading and writing.
